PwC M&Asters Challenge
PwC
PwC is one of the companies in the so-called "Big Four," the largest global auditing firms. It operates in 151 countries, and in Poland, it employs over 7,000 people as part of a global team of more than 327,000 individuals. The company primarily provides services in the areas of auditing, consulting (including business, energy, and legal advisory), financial reporting, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
The main industries in which PwC specializes include banking, insurance, energy, the public sector, healthcare, transport, and logistics. The company’s mission, based on building public trust and solving significant issues, is carried out through its involvement in educational, business, and socially impactful projects, as well as innovative initiatives.
How the Competition Works
In this competition, participants will take on the role of members of an M&A (mergers and acquisitions) team working with a client. Their tasks will include data analysis, preparing a multiple-based valuation, and conducting a meeting with the board where they will present recommendations for future actions. To qualify for the next stages, participants must register by filling out the registration form. The presentation should contain factual information and recommendations based on the conducted analyses.
During the competition, participants will need to replicate a process of closing assignment that typically takes months to complete within just a few hours. While creating their analyses, participants will receive support from experienced PwC consultants, and after the competition, they may have the opportunity to establish long-term collaboration with these experts.
The competition is aimed at individuals interested in working in the field of mergers and acquisitions and financial analysis. Through a practical approach, participants will gain experience in the tasks and skills required for work in M&A. An additional advantage of the competition is the opportunity for the finalist teams to meet with industry experts, including board members.
Stages
The qualifying stage of the competition will conclude in late April, with the registration form needing to be submitted at least a day before the end of the period designated for completing the qualifying tests. The first main stage will take place around May 22nd, with the finals scheduled for the following day. Both final stages will be held at PwC's office in Warsaw.
Summary
The PwC competition is aimed at individuals interested in the practical application of their knowledge and gaining experience in the field of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Participants will have the opportunity to analyse data, use their acquired skills, and formulate a professional opinion regarding the valuation of a company presented in the competition task. The best participants will present their analyses and recommendations to the board, which also requires strong presentation skills. The competition places a significant emphasis on learning through practice, replicating the real tasks that financial analysts at PwC encounter at every stage of their work. Best performers will be offered an internship at one of PwC Deals departments. Currently, one member of FMC works at PwC thanks to his performance during the competition. Hopefully, more of the Club members will achieve victory in the upcoming edition.
