Deloitte Dealmaker Academy

Deloitte Dealmaker Academy

Deloitte is one of the companies in the so-called "Big Four," a term referring to the four largest auditing firms in the world. The range of services it provides includes audit (although maybe not anymore, haha), including financial statement audits and initial public offerings (IPOs). In addition, the company offers consulting services, tax advisory, risk management, as well as legal and financial advisory.

Deloitte specializes in various industries, including the public administration sector, where it analyses areas such as transport, healthcare, and security. The firm also operates in the consumer goods sector, covering retail and sports, as well as in the energy and industrial sectors. A key area of Deloitte's activity is the financial sector, where the firm focuses on insurance, banking, and investments.

How the Workshop Works

The workshops are aimed at third, fourth, and fifth-year students as well as graduates of economics universities. To participate, candidates must submit their CV online, which constitutes the first stage of recruitment. Selected candidates will then take analytical tests and an English language exam. The top students will be invited to participate in the Case Academy.

The workshops offer five thematic tracks, and the winners of each will receive a cash prize of 5,000 PLN. The program includes gaining insight into the work of a financial advisor, networking with Deloitte employees, and obtaining valuable professional experience, which can significantly enhance participants' CVs. The workshops are conducted in a hybrid format, with elements of online meetings and business simulations. The cases discussed during the workshops are based on real-life situations, allowing for an accurate reflection of the realities of working as a tax advisor.

During the workshops, participants will gain knowledge about processes related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions, as well as have the opportunity to assume the role of a transaction advisor. They will also learn how to conduct company valuations and utilize insights from due diligence research.

Stages

The first recruitment stage, which involves submitting a CV, must be completed by November 2. After qualifying for the second stage, candidates will take analytical tests and an English exam. Those who demonstrate the best skills will be invited to the workshops, which will take place on November 16, 23, and 30 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Following the workshops, the final session will be held in January, where participants, working in teams, will solve a case study. The best teams will receive financial rewards.

Summary

The Dealmaker Academy competition is focused on developing talented and ambitious individuals by offering them a series of workshops that provide practical knowledge and experience. The goal of these activities is to prepare participants for a future career as a financial advisor, with a particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

Currently, two Members of Financial Markets Club have reached the finals of Deloitte Dealmaker Academy. In 2024 that was Tomasz Ferenc, who reached I place and in the following year that was Krzysztof Bajer achieving the II place in the finals. Hopefully, younger FMC Members will follow their path.
